Fresh Music Aberdeen · Stoneywood
Personalised one-to-one acoustic and electric guitar lessons in Stoneywood, Aberdeen — for complete beginners, returning players and advanced guitarists of all ages.
Fresh Music Aberdeen has been teaching guitar for over 20 years and has been rated the best music school in Scotland two years running. Every lesson is one-to-one with Connor, and every lesson is built around you: the songs you want to play, the pace you want to learn at and where you want your playing to go.
Whether you have never held a guitar before, you have picked one up again after years away, or you want to push your technique towards grades or further study, guitar lessons at Fresh are shaped around your goals rather than a fixed, off-the-shelf syllabus.
Acoustic lessons focus on the things that let you play songs confidently: clean chord shapes and smooth changes, strumming and rhythm, fingerpicking, and accompanying yourself or others when singing. You will learn songs you genuinely want to play from day one, and the theory you need is introduced as part of those songs rather than as dry exercises.
Electric guitar lessons cover riffs, lead playing, soloing and improvisation, technique such as bending, vibrato and alternate picking, and getting a great tone. The studio is fully set up with amps, cables and pedals, so you only need to bring your guitar. Lessons regularly cover the latest chart music alongside classic rock, indie and metal — whatever you are into.
Fresh Music specialises in adult teaching. Plenty of students start in their 30s, 40s, 50s and beyond, and lessons run from 9am until 9pm Monday to Thursday so they can fit around day jobs, shift patterns and school runs. Students who work away or offshore can discuss arrangements that suit their rota.
Younger players are just as welcome. Lessons keep things fun and motivating with music they recognise, while building real technique. Parents and guardians are welcome to sit in on lessons, and Connor holds an enhanced PVG through Disclosure Scotland.
A right-handed guitar can be borrowed during lesson time if required, but having your own guitar to practise at home makes a big difference to progress. Connor is happy to advise on what to buy, whether you are choosing your first acoustic or upgrading an electric. Restringing, minor electrical repairs and guitar adjustments are included as part of the service.
