Fresh Music Aberdeen

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know before starting lessons.

Do you provide an instrument for me to use?

A guitar can be borrowed, if required, during lesson times (limited to right handed guitarists). It is, however, much better to get your own guitar for practice at home and Fresh Music Aberdeen can provide advice on what to buy.

Can I order a guitar and have it delivered to Fresh Music Aberdeen?

No. Fresh Music is not insured for students’ guitars. They are the responsibility of the student without exception.

Can my friend or sibling sit in on my lesson?

Only parents or guardians are welcome to sit in on lessons.

Do I need to bring my amp and cables?

Fresh Music provides amps, cables, pedals, etc. Students are responsible for bringing picks, a capo if required, and their guitar.

What happens if I'm running late?

Lesson times cannot be extended if you're running late due to demand for lessons. Arriving on time helps you make the most of your session.

Can I have an online lesson?

Online lessons are only provided to students who, under extreme circumstances, cannot attend their lesson. A minimum of 24 hours’ notice is required and online lessons are at the teacher’s discretion. They may be declined where a student is working towards a graded exam, the situation is avoidable, or sufficient notice has not been provided.

Can I reschedule if I can't make my lesson?

You are paying for a time slot. If you cannot make the week's lesson, let Connor know as soon as possible. If a free slot becomes available that week, it may be possible to use it, but this cannot be guaranteed. Lessons cannot be carried over to future weeks.

Do you provide free parking?

Free, on-street parking is available close to the studio. You will be advised where to park in your welcome letter.

Do you offer a repair service?

Restringing, minor electrical repairs and guitar adjustments are included as part of the service. Students are responsible for purchasing strings and parts, with advice available when required.

Do you provide group lessons?

No. Lessons are conducted on a 1:1 basis so that teaching can be tailored to each student's pace and needs.

Can I prepare for music grades?

Yes. Preparation for Rockschool and Trinity College exams is offered during lessons if you wish.

Can I have lessons every two weeks?

No. Lessons are conducted weekly to encourage consistency. Exceptions are made for those who work away or offshore.

Can I record my session?

Yes. Whether you're playing a cover or writing your own music, you can record your session. Many students also choose to record vocals.
