Who we are

Fresh Music Aberdeen provides one-to-one music lessons from 11 Aspen Place, Stoneywood, Aberdeen, AB21 9BA. Fresh Music Aberdeen is the data controller for the personal information described on this page.

What we collect

• Enquiry details you send through the contact form: name, email address, telephone number, preferred lesson length, preferred lesson time and your message.
• Contact details you provide directly by email, telephone or text message.
• Lesson administration information for current students, such as lesson times, attendance and progress notes.
• Payment reference information needed to administer Direct Debit payments. Bank details are handled by the Direct Debit provider, not stored on this website.

How we use it

Information is used to reply to enquiries, arrange and deliver lessons, keep a waiting list where requested, administer payments and keep the required records for a small teaching business. It is not used for automated decision-making or profiling.

The lawful bases relied on are: taking steps at your request before entering into a contract and performing that contract (arranging and delivering lessons), and legitimate interests (responding to enquiries and running the business). Marketing emails are not sent without consent.

Who it is shared with

Personal information is not sold or rented. It is shared only with service providers who help run the business, and only as far as they need it:

• The website host, which processes contact-form submissions and delivers them by email.
• The email provider used to receive and store messages.
• The Direct Debit provider used to collect lesson payments.
• Anyone we are legally required to share information with.

Cookies and analytics

This website does not set advertising or tracking cookies. Pages embedding third-party content, such as YouTube video links and Google fonts, are loaded from those providers, and those providers may record technical information such as your IP address when you interact with them.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not lead to lessons are kept for up to 24 months and then deleted. Records relating to current and former students are kept for as long as needed to deliver lessons and to meet accounting and tax obligations, normally six years.

Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information held about you, to have inaccurate information corrected, to ask for information to be deleted, to object to or restrict how it is used, and to ask for it in a portable format. If you are unhappy with how your information has been handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Children

Where a student is under 16, enquiries and lesson arrangements are made with a parent or guardian, and their contact details are used for all correspondence.
